I experimented with different wires in place of the loop to see what was required to make the blinking normal. The loop put a tiny bit of resistance in the circuit. It is probably about the same as a 1-2 ohm 10W resistor. I have removed 4 bulbs from the original 6 bulb system so what I find works to get my flash rate back to normal may be different for your application. In this picture I placed a small piece of copper braid across the connections. This was not enough resistance and the flasher would not blink at all.
